I had to stay in Hyatt House, Santa Clara, California 2 weeks ago while on business. For some reason my usual (favorite) hotel to stay when I visit the Bay Area, Sheraton Sunnyvale is no longer the preferred hotel for my company. So I figured I’d try Hyatt House since Santa Clara is not too far from my Mountain View workplace.

Checking In to Hyatt House Bay Area Santa Clara
Being I’m a Starwood Platinum Preferred Guest where SPG hotels treat me like a King, I’m curious to see how Hyatt treats non-elite guests. I wasn’t assuming much. I am a member Hyatt Gold Passport frequent hotel guest however I am just at the basic level. Travel bloggers usually rave about Hyatt so I was like why not?
I arrived at Hyatt House Santa Clara, CA pretty late like 9pm. There was no other guests at front desk. A few in the connecting hotel bar area. Checking in was a breeze. The front desk person was nice. I asked her for a quiet room and she told me that they don’t have any facing the plaza (you see this hotel right next to a major freeway) but she would upgrade me to the Highest Floor room on the 7th floor complimentary. She said other guests told her that since the room is high up, they don’t hear the freeway noise that much. Great!
Hyatt House Bay Area Santa Clara’s Decor
The decor in the lobby was modern (no idea why I didn’t take any pictures there!) but going up to 7th floor, the decor looks dated. I’m not sure why but it felt like they converted a Holiday Inn and kept the decor. So 70s hotel feeling.

Hyatt House Bay Area Santa Clara High Floor Room
When I entered the Hyatt House High Floor room, I was greeted with a spacious living room. I believe this is a full-suite hotel so every room should have the same layout.

Hyatt House Bay Area Santa Clara’s High Floor Room: The Kitchen

By the way, have you considered these must-haves for your travel packing list?
Next to the living room you get a desk and a full kitchen.

The kitchen comes complete with 2 electric stove burners, dishwasher, big fridge, microwave, coffee maker – even comes with dishes, glasses, pots and pans and utensils! Cheese grater oh my!!!

Hyatt House Bay Area Santa Clara’s High Floor Room: The Bedroom
The King bed I slept in was comfortable too with fluffy pillows. The bedroom was next to the freeway but since this is the 7th/highest floor, the freeway noises were barely audible, sort of muffled.

By the way there were power outlet extension by the bed. Very important so you charge your electronic devices while you sleep.

Hyatt House Bay Area Santa Clara’s High Floor Room: The Bathroom
I love the modern bathroom! I judge a hotel room by its bathroom and Hyatt House Santa Clara California hotel bathroom definitely passes the test. The shower boasts dark gray tiles, good water pressure and temperature with plenty of towels. The only thing that the bar handle inside the shower were lose but nothing that a trip to the front desk won’t fix.

The vanity is spacious with one sink. Marble countertops with tons of drawers (not sure for what?). Shampoo, conditioner and bath as well as hand soap were provided but no lotions, really Hyatt?? Minus some points for that one.

The toilet was clean. I don’t know about you but that’s important to me! One time I stayed in the Four Seasons (yes Four Seasons) hotel in Mountain View and the toilet bowl wasn’t entirely clean. Yuck!

Hyatt House Bay Area Santa Clara’s High Floor Room: The Closet
The attached closet space was good sized. There were basic amenities like iron and ironing board as well as security deposit box. Now remember if you have highly valuable items, contact the Hyatt House Santa Clara front desk for the hotel deposit box instead. I don’t think it’s advisable to leave those in the security box in the room. The closet doors are full mirrored so that’s a nice touch. There’s also an extra pillow in there with some storage racks. If you have a lot of clothes to hang, there’s also a tiny coat closet next to the kitchen.

That’s pretty much it for the suite/room itself.
Hyatt House Bay Area Santa Clara’s Gym
Now if you feel like working out, Hyatt House Santa Clara California also have a hotel gym. Pretty sizeable with several treadmills and weight equipment. Watercooler included. Just bring yourself and werk bij! ?

Hyatt House Bay Area Santa Clara’s Pool and Jacuzzi
Also included is a sizable jacuzzi spa and huge swimming pool! If you feel like finding dori, you can go ahead and have a swim! The pool is heated too. The only thing I didn’t like is it’s next to the freeway so you hear the cars passing by.

Hyatt House Bay Area Santa Clara’s Surrounding Area
The hotel is situated in a nice plaza with a Safeway grocery store, Peets Coffee and a bunch of restaurants like Red Robin etc. So it’s convenient to get food if you stay at the Hyatt Hyatt House Santa Clara California hotel. Oh and the Safeway is 24 hours too. Groceries’ prices are insane tho lol! Must be a Bay Area thing. A dozen organic eggs for $7-$8 really???

That’s it! Hope you enjoyed my review of Hyatt House in Bay Area, Santa Clara, California!
Don’t forget about these important items to bring with you when you travel!
